Create a College Match List
Our advisors help you decide what you are looking for in a college and guide you through preparation of a "Beginning List" of schools that match your interests. Typical first lists include 15 to 20 colleges.

Research College Matches
Your advisor will guide you through an intensive research process. You will learn where to get good information, what to look for, and how to determine if a school is good match for you.

Narrow Down Your College Options
Our staff is able to offer feedback on college research and help you come up with a "Top Ten List" that offers responsible options and ensures that you have at least one "safety" school and one affordable school on your list.

Develop a Personalized College Application Plan
You will learn to identify and organize all the tasks involved in completing college applications including requesting applications, setting personal deadlines, getting recommendations, requesting fee waivers (if applicable), writing & editing essays, filling out forms, visiting colleges, registering

Brainstorm Application Essay Topics
College Resource Center Assistants will assist you with brainstorming a good essay topic and outlining an essay which is crucial for a successful application experience.

Edit Application Essays
This is the final piece of completing your college essay. Finishing touches focus on grammar, finalize your essay.

Complete College Applications
College Resource Center Assistants review each application with you, help you complete application forms, compile application inserts, and make sure they are ready to mail.

Assist with Application Fee Waivers
Some students and their families may be eligible for fee waivers from some colleges and universities. NACRC Advisors will assist you in determining if you qualify for a fee waiver at your list of schools.

Assistance for Adults interested in returning to Post-Secondary Education
The NACRC has many connections with NAU's Educational Opportunity Centers and Coconino Community College. We will help adults interested in returning to higher education or completing their GED by providing them access to advisors who are specialized in adult learners interested in returning to school.

Assistance for Students Interested in Vocational/Tech Schools, Military Careers, or Job Force
The NACRC is not just for students who wish to go straight to a four year school but we also assist students who are interested in going to a two year program at a community college, entering the military, attending a vocational/tech school, or going straight into the job force. We help you weigh your options so you can find the best fit for you.

Search for Scholarships
You will learn how to identify scholarship opportunities, request scholarship applications, and apply for scholarships. You also have access to Navigation 101, a college preparation software that has an extensive scholarship database. We will assist you in researching local scholarships and other scholarships that you may qualify for.

Assistance with Scholarship Applications and Essays
College Resource Center assistants will help you fill out your scholarship applications and edit your essays.

Arrange for Campus Visits / Interviews
The NACRC hopes to provide opportunities for students to visit colleges and universities in the surrounding area. NACRC will also help you set up visits and interviews with your prospective schools.

Prepare for Financial Aid Process

Your counselor will help you get ready early for the financial aid process. We will help you gather the correct tax forms, register for a Federal Personal Identification Number, create a financial aid timeline, register for the CSS Profile if necessary, and identify which colleges on your list require special financial aid forms.

Complete the FAFSA
The NACRC helps you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to school deadlines. Completing this application early and accurately is the key to getting financial aid from the government for college. The NACRC is unique in that it provides all families access to Tuition Coach©, a software that assists families in filling out the FAFSA with advice on how to minimize your EFC (expected family contribution).

Complete the CSS Profile
If necessary, we will help you complete a private school financial aid application called the CSS Profile. While this application is only required by a small percentage of schools, it is an important form to fill out for those schools that request it.

Complete School Financial Aid Forms
Our staff ensures that you complete necessary school-specific financial aid forms. By distinguishing which schools on a students' list require an additional school specific form, this ensures that students complete all necessary forms so that they are eligible for the most amount of aid.

Analyze Financial Aid Packages
When you receive your offer letters, your advisor can review, explain, and compare financial aid packages from your schools. This process helps you understand which schools are most affordable.

Commit to a College
The NACRC will give you advice about which college is the right choice. When you decide, your advisor will help ensure your enrollment forms are in order to submit to your chosen school.

College Preparation Software
All 9th-12th grade students will have access to Navigation 101, a college prep software that helps all high school students see what stage of the college application process they are on, help them if they are behind, and help them stay on course all the way through graduation. All students will be tied to an advisor who will monitor their progress and suggest ways to stay on track if they are falling behind and to encourage them when they are on track. This software helps all students regardless if they are interested in 4 yr, 2 yr, vocational/tech schools, military options, or joining the workforce.

Career Exploration Software
This interactive program is excellent for both adults and students interested in finding out what kind of career fields fit their interests and strengths. It even helps you look at your work values and how well they match up with your ideal occupations.

Coconino Community College has provided participants of the NACRC access to the AZ CIS system. The AZ CIS system has a Career Interest Profiler that matches your interests to careers. It has a Skills Interest Inventory that works to match your top skills with careers, and tells you which skills that you have that transfer between careers. A Values Inventory matches your top career choices with your values and helps you decide if it is a good fit. Participants can also search the digital Occupational Outlook Handbook, search schools that have programs related to the career they are interested in nation-wide as well as local. You can even search for scholarships related to the programs you are interested in. And much more.

Access to SAT/ACT Customizable Test Prep
All students will have access to the Xap Corporation's Number2 program. This programs provides FREE SAT/ACT test prep that is customizable for every student. All students can take practice mini-tests and see which areas they are struggling in. Once the program determines your weaknesses it designs a test prep program around your needs to help you improve your test scores. This program also has the capability to let a standardized test prep tutor view your progress so they can help you in areas in which you might be struggling. Early Awareness Activities for Middle School
The NACRC provides some services for middle school students. We provide access to learning style inventories and primary career and occupation interest inventories. The NACRC will also be working with NAU staff to provide more awareness of the college application process to middle school students and their parents as they prepare to go onto high school.

Many Small and Large Group Workshops
Workshops will be provided on a variety of topics in small and large group sessions. Workshop topics will range and are not limited to: college 101 series, financial aid awareness, career exploration series, special topic series, standardized test prep half day workshops and MORE!

Transitional Services and College Success
The NACRC will be available for students as they transition into college and will be available for students if they decide they need help to transfer schools or to be connected with extra services to help them stay in and be successful in post-secondary education, regardless of the route they choose to go.
